We use a contemporary communicative/functional approach in order to provide a comprehensive and relevant training program related to business and individual needs. Placement test or aptitude test

The placement test, conducted by an instructor, consists of a brief personal interview.

Each student is tested individually.  An individual’s level of aptitude is best established by his/her performance in class.  The instructor can gauge how easily the participant

assimilates and utilizes new material.  This placement test respects the communicative/

functional approach of our program by:

 

1.      determining the individual’s ability to communicate orally through a series of

difficult tasks;

2.      determining the level of oral comprehension;

3.      determining strong and weak points of grammar;

4.      verifying ability to modify speech.

 

Test results can be finalized within a few days of the end of the testing.  The company will be provided with a summary indicating each student’s name and level.  Some group changes are inevitable after the first few classes as some individuals’ latent skills may only show up after a few hours of instruction.

 

 Progress report

 

The progress report refers to the assessment of an individual’s progress at the end of a term. It is designed to determine whether or not an individual has achieved the goals set out in the program.

 

Teaching Material

 

To reinforce and correct the communicative skill, students will work with a textbook and in some cases with a workbook developed especially for adult language learners.  The courses follow a logical structural progress in the method and are customized to suit the organizations needs by using communicative and functional approaches.  This responds to the need frequently expressed by students and instructors for a lively resource that develops communicative proficiency, while at the same time focusing on grammatical accuracy.

 

Complementary Material

 

Games, listening, speaking and reading exercises make up the balance of our program.

The key is respect for learners’ needs and variety.  Communicative proficiency is also

Learned through actual sources (audio, newspapers, business forms, magazines, memos,

company’s publications, etc.).

Training fees

 

Placement test:                   $15.00 per person

 

Tutoring (one on

One):                                    $70.00 per hour

 

                                             $55.00 per hour plus

Group:                                 $5.00 for each additional

                                             student per group.

 

Cost may change according to needs and distance.

 

The rate includes

·        reports; attendance sheets, report at the end of the session

·        instructional material (except student’s workbook and textbook)

·        hours of training

·        travel expenses

·        start-up meetings, regular contact, follow-up meetings.

 

We ask the company to provide access to a room fitted with a whiteboard and good lighting. We require also the use of a photocopier and, a videocassette player.

First Contact

 

 

Parameters discussed with the client will be:

 

·        placement tests

·        teaching material, course content and objectives

·        reports and forms (attendance sheets, progress reports)

·        group formation

·        class schedules

·        training rooms

·        term and deadlines

Billing

 

The company will be billed at the end of each month of training.

 

Attendance Sheets

 

Attendance sheets will be provided at the end of each month.  It will carry the student’s

name, company name and address, attendance, hours missed and reason, dates, class level, location, etc.

 

Class size and schedule

 

To accommodate most schedules, we offer flexible hours of training between 8h00 a.m.

and 8h00 p.m. in the workplace.  Class size, duration and the number of hours of training required are negotiable with the client.

 

Cancellation policy

 

Private classes and group classes may be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance, if

necessary, without charge or penalty.  In both cases, we will make every attempt to

Reschedule missed classes.
